Restylane FAQ

What is it?
Restylane is a crystal clear gel that binds to the water in the skin creating volume for filling in areas of tissue loss. Restylane contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring component of the skin that is the framework or medium in which ells live. In gel form it binds to water and provides volume for filling in areas of tissue loss, such as smile lines.

How does it work?
Injected beneath your skin, much like spackle is used to fill in cracks in your walls. Restylane® then works with your body’s own hyaluronic acid to create the volume needed to lift fine lines and wrinkles.

Restylane usually lasts from six months to one year in most individuals.

How long does a treatment take?
The treatment takes about 30 minutes with immediate results. Touch-ups can be performed any time you like after the previous treatment.

Is it painful?
Restylane® injections are usually painless in treating wrinkles, however the area can be slightly red and swollen afterwards. This generally goes away in a day or two. On rare occasions, patients have experienced temporary swelling, redness and tenderness at or near the injection site several weeks after treatment.

Do I need a skin test?
